The Mangosteen is a tropical tree that is believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas of Indonesia. The tree is cultivated primarily in southwest India and Southeast Asia, and is seen in other tropical climates, like Florida and Puerto Rico.
The flavor of the Mangosteen is difficult to describe, but those who have had the opportunity to taste this mysterious fruit describe the flavor as a medley of strawberry, peach, and vanilla ice cream!

- Mangosteen plants require a lot of maintenance, and have very specific growing conditions. The typical Mangosteen plant takes approximately 8-10 years to fully mature and start yielding fruit!
- Legend has it that Queen Victoria offered 100 pounds sterling to anyone who could deliver to her fresh Mangosteen. The legend has never been substantiated, but many believe this is how the fruit got its nickname: “The Queen of Fruit”.
