Also known as the common Fig, this fruit is a popular member of the mulberry family. The Fig is native to Asia and the Middle East. It was the Spanish missionaries that originally introduced Figs to California. Today, the US is the 6th largest producer of figs in the world. The mild, sweet flavor of the Fig makes it a favorite fruit to many, and makes for an excellent addition to an array of recipes.
