Peaches
Fruit
Why was the Peach acting funny?
Because it was all fuzzy!
The Peach is a popular, fuzzy fruit that originated in China. Professionals theorize that Peach cultivation began circa 2000 BC, but there is evidence that suggests that domestication happened as early as 6000 BC. Peaches come in many varieties, including Red, White, Yellow, Clingstone, and Freestone. Nothing beats the tangy, sweet, delicious flavor of a fresh, juicy Peach!
Did you know?
- In 1982, former President Ronald Reagan declared July “National Peach Month”, but many places celebrate the fuzzy stone fruit in August.
- The flesh of the “clingstone” Peach clings to the stone, making it messy to separate. The flesh of the “freestone” Peach separates easily from the pit, making them easier to eat!
