Kiwifruit
Fruit
Kiwifruit, commonly known as just Kiwi, comes to us from ancient China. New Zealand was the first country to commercially grow the fruit, and helped introduce the small, furry fruit to the rest of the world. The soft texture and sweet, unique flavors of the Kiwifruit make it a popular fruit around the globe, and can be an excellent addition to many products.
Did you know?
- The Kiwifruit is named after the flightless Kiwi bird of New Zealand (which it looks very similar to).
- This fuzzy little fruit didn’t make its way to the United States until 1962. Due to the irresistible, sweet taste, California began producing its own Kiwifruit. Yum!
